This Privacy Policy explains how GurKarkhana ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the GurKarkhana mobile application and website (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
GurKarkhana is a mobile application that helps jaggery (gur) unit owners manage cane intake, farmer accounts, labour, payments, and production. It is operated by Ram Singh Chandel, Founder — GurKarkhana. You can contact us at support@gurkarkhana.com.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details: your mobile number (used for OTP login), name, and role.
- Business details: your unit/plant name and season information.
- Records you enter: details of farmers, labourers, cane weighments, payments, wages, attendance, production, sales, and expenses. This may include the names, mobile numbers, villages, and (optionally) bank details of the farmers and workers you deal with.
- Photos: receipt or document images you choose to upload.
- Location: your device's precise GPS location, collected once when you set up your plant or unit. This requires your explicit permission and is used only to record the location of your jaggery unit. We do not track your location at any other time.
Information collected automatically
- Basic device and usage information (e.g. app version, error logs, connectivity status) needed to operate and improve the Service.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the core features of the app and keep your records.
- To authenticate you via one-time password (OTP) sent to your mobile.
- To record the location of your jaggery unit during plant setup.
- To calculate balances, wages, and business summaries.
- To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
- To communicate with you about the Service, including support.
4. How your data is stored
Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure provided by Google Cloud Platform. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
5. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Service providers that help us operate the Service (e.g. cloud hosting, SMS/OTP delivery), under appropriate safeguards.
- Your own team members whom you add to your unit (e.g. a supervisor), according to their role.
- Authorities, where required by applicable law.
6. Your responsibilities regarding others' data
The app lets you record information about farmers and workers you do business with. You are responsible for handling their information lawfully and for having any consent required to record it.
7. Data retention
We retain your records for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and its data (see Section 9).
8. Security
Access to the app is protected by mobile-number OTP login. While we work to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights
You may request to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to close your account. To request account deletion, visit our Account Deletion page or email support@gurkarkhana.com from your registered number. We will respond within 7 days.
10. Children
The Service is intended for business users and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notifying you in the app.
